Downstream cruises pass Hunsdon Mead nature reserve, and may reach Roydon Mill. Longer cruises may turn below Brick Lock where the charming lock keeper’s cottage has been recently restored.

Up river, past a nature reserve and outdoor pursuits centre, is the Moorhen marina, and a waterside pub with a children’s activity area. This could provide a break for children on board. A very pretty stretch skirts Harlow Town Park then on to Harlow Mill, now a hotel and restaurant. A short distance upstream, is the path leading to the Gibberd Garden with its collection of sculptures, including some by Henry Moore.
